405 - Football Toronto
Toronto Argos' Helmet Bank
Project Description
Football Toronto purchases certified helmets, loaned free of charge to Toronto high school programs, with every cost covered for the ten-year life of the helmet.
The proceeds from this fundraising will be
used for the following cause(s):
Purchasing and re-certifying football helmets.
How this project will assist in promoting
or developing amateur sport on a national
level.
Helmet costs had been quietly ending programs. At $300 to $600 per unit, plus mandatory reconditioning and recertification, a full roster's worth of head protection can exceed an entire athletic department's annual budget. More than 150 helmets reached schools in 2023, followed by 200 in 2024, keeping teams on the field with equipment that meets current safety certification.
