Safe Waterfront Infrastructure
Project Description
Safe Waterfront Infrastructure -- to make docks and decks safe for rowers
The proceeds from this fundraising will be
used for the following cause(s):
To purchase docks, decks, ramps, and racks to replace decaying docks and to build a new deck to store rowing shells. (2019-2014 was a period of uncertainty and lower membership revenues due to COVID, a temporary makeshift location on shore, and a transistion year moving into the renovated boathouse. During this period no money could be invested in docks or decks, leaving ONEC Rowing with decrepit docks and missing deck spce.)
How this project will assist in promoting
or developing amateur sport on a national
level.
The Ottawa New Edinburgh Club is a premier recreational and 'rowing for life' rowing Club in Ottawa. The Club offers learn-to-row and trains many people to be scullers. The aes range from teen-age (Elmwood School and day camps) to many seniors. The seniors in particular require stable docks. Members participate in the Canadian Sculling Marathon and regattas, including out-of-province beach sprints. AS well we invite low income community youth from the Rideau-Rockcliffe Resource Centre for free learn-to-row lessons.
