OSS Get in the Game Fund
Project Description
We are asking for support for OSS athletes from low-income families hoping to play competitive basketball.
The program will 'follow-on' Jumpstart funding and will bridge the gap between Jumpstart funds and the total cost of participation on a competitive team (up to $400 per athlete).
The proceeds from this fundraising will be
used for the following cause(s):
The funds raised from this project will go to cover the cost of team fees for athletes from low income families looking to participate in competitive basketball with OSS who have already qualified for support from Jumpstart. Costs not typically covered by Jumpstart include tournament registration, supplemental team training, and the cost of uniforms.
How this project will assist in promoting
or developing amateur sport on a national
level.
The funds raised from this project will help lower the costs of competitive basketball for athletes from low income families. Removing the financial barriers to competitive sport is a critical step to ensuring equity in amateur sport in Canada.
