Rebuild It Campaign

Project Description

The Rebuild It Campaign is a multi-year fundraising initiative that will provide capital for the Argonaut Rowing Club to upgrade the infrastructure of its boathouse. Priorities will be given to relocate areas damaged by flood waters in 2017 and to improve accessibility for persons with physical disabilities.

Phase One of the campaign, in 2017/18, will target an amount of $500,000 for the purpose of relocating the change rooms damaged by flood waters, expanding the boat bays and replacing the existing docks. The new, change rooms will be on the second floor, secure from any future flooding. The east boat bays will be expanded to the rear, freeing up space in the main boat bays for larger boats. The new dock will offer barrier-free access, from boat bay to the water, and will be large enough to accommodate as many as four eights at any one time, significantly easing congestion during peak periods.  These are exciting new developments that will benefit all rowing programs at the club.

The proceeds from this fundraising will be
used for the following cause(s):

Change room relocation, boat bay expansion and dock replacement. Excess funds, if any, will be used to acquire a new boat trailer.

How this project will assist in promoting
or developing amateur sport on a national

A functioning boathouse and new, larger docks compliant with accessibility standards will enable the club to continue to develop athletes who represent Canada in international competition. The club has a long history of developing athletes who have represented Canada at both the junior and senior level, including many who have competed at the Olympics and Paralympics.

Boathouse modernization and dock expansion will enable the Argonaut Rowing Club to expand its successful junior and growing senior rowing programs. As the upgraded facilities will be fully accessible to persons with physical disabilities, the club will also be able to expand its para-rowing program.
