COVID Recovery - Securing the Future

Project Description

level.

Established in 1851, the Ottawa Curling Club has been the hub of curling in the nation's capital for 170 years. In season, more than a thousand people pass through our doors every week. Named after the capital of Canada, we're not only the oldest club in the area; we're inextricably linked to the fabric of a community with an international profile.  Our members are world class too. A walk around our club reveals walls full of World, National and Provincial Championship banners spanning the decades that include some of the best known names in the sport. As the home of 3 time Canadian champions Team Homan, we are internationally recognizable and top of mind when it comes to curling not only in our region, but around the world.  Members playing in one of our many leagues, long time rental groups who make the OCC their home club, first time curlers trying the sport for the first time before enjoying a beverage in the lounge, and curious visitors create a hum of activity that warms the cold Ottawa winters. Our club is proud to welcome diverse groups. For the last number of years, we have hosted the National Visually Impaired Championship, welcoming visually impaired and blind curlers from across the country. Expanding to a record 40 teams in 2019-20, the Rainbow Rockers League is one of our longest standing rental leagues that welcomes and celebrates the LGBTQ community. The OCC also hosted the 2019 Canadian Gay Curling Championship.

Curling clubs like ours are the place that sport happens. Whether at the highest level, or once week in one of our many leagues, curling grows when clubs are strong. Your donation will ensure that the Ottawa Curling Club can continue to grow, develop, and support the sport we love.
