Baysville Curling Club Continuity Campaign

Project Description

Fundraising efforts to financially support increasing operating and capital costs for a fully volunteer-run curling club in a small community that focuses on inclusivity, learning, safety, participation and competition. Outside of the curling season, club members and community members access the property for a recreational Bocci league that increases club visibility and encourages new members to learn to curl.

The proceeds from this fundraising will be
used for the following cause(s):

Operating and capital costs include: utilities, equipment, maintenance and repairs, building improvements, energy efficiency, and air quality. Without our building we cannot offer programs.
Programs:
Continued community outreach, for example, through our previously held fundraiser dinners; visibility and inclusivity with our organized summer bocce league, if adaptable to Covid protocols; sport safety and introduction, including a club helmet lending program;
sport instruction including history, etiquette, strategy and rules accomplished both on ice and classroom;
recreational leagues; competitive league interclub participation; Masters and Grand Masters interclub competition for those 60+; and, Operational certifications such as SafeServe and Food Handling certificates for volunteering members.
Baysville Curling Club members volunteer to run all of the programs and to complete all tasks to maintain the club unless a specialist is required.

How this project will assist in promoting
or developing amateur sport on a national
level.

Baysville curling club believes exposure to sport is just the beginning. Our commitment to the concept of "play" is enabled by a low ost club membership and that cost is kept to the minimum because we have a volunteer-run club. This alone allows many to participate. We have an extensive supply of equipment for use without cost. Instruction programs are free. Our mission statement informs our actions: It is the mission of the Baysville Curling Club to provide a safe, clean and friendly environment that offers the opportunity to enjoy fellowship and sport. We are dedicated to the promotion of curling by providing an affordable,
enjoyable, and social activity for people of all skill level, from beginner to experienced.
